New Special Covers



Release of Special Cover on 'Powerlooms of Malegaon' by Hon. Dr. P.V.S. Reddy,  IPoS PMG, Aurangabad Region, - 9.12.2014
'MALEPEX 2014'

District level philatelic exhibition 'MALEPEX 2014' was held on 9th & 10th December 2014 at Malegaon, a city of Power looms.  128 frames were displayed and 30 philatelists exhibited their collection.  There was overwhelming response from School children, near about 5000 students from different schools of Malegaon and nearby area along with school representatives visited the exhibition. Quiz competition, Drawing competition and  philately lectures for students were organised.
 During the exhibition two special covers were released.

Special Cover on Karnataka Rajyotsava – 14th November 2014


Kannada Rajyotsava or Karnataka Formation Day is celebrated on 1st November every year. This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka. The Rajyotsava day is listed as a government holiday in the state of Karnataka and is celebrated by Kannadigas across the world.
59th Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated in the state on 1st November 2014. On the eve of the 59th Karnataka Rajyotsava, the state government issued a special gazette notification to change the names of following 12 cities and towns of Karnataka.
Special Cover on World Diabetic Day – 17th November 2014

World Diabetes Day is celebrated on November 14th–the birthday of Frederick Banting, whose work with Charles Best led to the discovery of insulin in 1921. The day was first introduced in 1991 to raise awareness about diabetes: its causes, its prevention and the devastating effects it has on human lives and healthcare systems worldwide.
For creating awareness about Diabetes, a Special Cover was released by Karnataka Postal Circle on 17.11.2014 at Bangalore (Special Cover approval no. KTK/34/2014)
